COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Planning is now seen as shaping the places where people live, work and enjoy their time. As the outcome of the planning system affects everyone, it follows that everyone should have the opportunity to play a role in developing the planning policy framework.

Clients need to note that all except the smallest of planning applications will now require some form of ongoing COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION. Indeed, it is a requirement of the new DESIGN AND ACCESS STATEMEMNTS that the participation process is referred to - developers be aware!!!

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN A WIDER CONTEXT

It is vital that a coherent and well thought out participatory process is integrated into every planning application strategy. ENABLING PROJECTS and PETER D KYTE ASSOCIATES can now provide the communicatory support set out below.

Please also see our PLANNING CONSULTANCY SERVICES and SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, which provide the wider context for successful community participation and the achievement of SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.

Please do not hesitate to CONTACT US should you require further information.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AT PLANNING STAGE

The guidance in Planning Policy Statement 1 commits to greater involvement at planning application stage. An inclusive approach should be adopted to ensure that all community groups have an opportunity to participate.

It is the Government's intention that no-one should be disadvantaged by the planning applications process.

We thus now offer the following COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION SERVICES. Please CONTACT us for more details:

  • CONTACTING NEIGHBOURS AND LOCAL GROUPS (IF ANY) PRIOR TO APPLICATION SUBMISSION TO NEGOTIATE THE SCHEME DESIGN

  • PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS

  • COMMUNITY FOCUS GROUPS ON PROJECTS.

  • PLANNING WORKSHOPS

  • STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS

  • LEAFLETS AND BRIEFING DOCUMENTS

  • NEIGHBOURHOOD LETTERS AND QUESTIONNAIRES

  • PROJECT WEBSITES AND PHONE LINES.

  • E-MAIL RESPONSES TO SCHEMES.

These participatory tools are aimed at positively influencing the design, layout and content of a development project, by effective communication with those who will be most involved with it when it is built and used.
